Different nations like different fonts (supposedly)

When my British publishers told me they wanted to make the American cover for Growing Young more suitable for the British market I expected the differences to be big. Here are the actual two covers:

Yeah, you get it. Almost identical. Yet the font is different. I've been told that different nations like different fonts, and British readers are very particular about the fonts on the covers of their books. The left one, by the way, is the American cover, the right one - British.
